As part of the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professional’s continuing education
program, Parisi co-authored and presented a number of programs, including “Bicycle and
Pedestrian Facility Design within a Constrained Right of Way.”
Institute of Transportation Engineers
Parisi has led the development of several resources, including publications and training aids, for the Institute of Transportation Engineers. These include a series of briefing sheets addressing various SRTS-related actions, as well as articles for the ITE Journal—“Transportation Professionals Get Involved with Safe Routes to School” and “Identifying Barriers and Engineering Solutions to Safe Routes to School.”
Pedestrian Bicycle and Information Center
Parisi has consulted to the Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center for several years, including
for Safe Routes to School-related programs and pedestrian safety engineering. Parisi recently
presented “Community Approaches to Pedestrian Safety Education”, focusing on social
marketing and a media campaign to teach basic traffic safety.
Safe Routes to School Briefing Sheets
Parisi recently prepared a series of nine Briefing Sheets for the National Center for Safe Routes to School and the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE). The briefing sheets are intended for use by transportation engineers and planners to support their active participation in the development and implementation of Safe Routes to School programs and activities.
